Why would Garry's Mod get Lag?
HALF LIFE 2 , TF2 , CS:GO , LD2 -ETC mostly Source Engine game average Fps about 100+ on low spec pc
But why would Garry's mod take a lag even though it is the source engine?
Because the company is different
HLS,TF2 IS MADE FROM VALVE
BUT GMOD IS MADE FROM FACEPUNCH STUDIO

Valve showed a crazy optimization with tremendous coding skills
But Gary Newman has made optimizations like a jerk.

Its probably because you're playing with a whole bunch of addons, if learned anything from my experience vanilla gmod would run way better than TF2 in most cases. To me it sounds like you just gotta get a better computer, blaming the studio wont help.

Or just turn on multi core rendering

If you play with a lot of stuff in the background or in-game (such as addons) your PC might not handle this very well.
Try closing things in your background or buy a new CPU.
